On a good day, parenting will test the integrity of your character. On a bad day, parenting will test your will to live. Parenting children with trauma histories will cause you to test the integrity of everything and everyone you thought you knew, for the rest of your life.

June 13th

Hospital finally called.

She discharges next monday ... to no services.

oh, and since she failed the fifth grade state test, we don't know if she will be repeating or not because the hospital still hasn't written her an IEP.

or determined if she's DD or not.

and they said they "ignore her 'tantrums' and rub her back" and that this is their recommended therapy approach.

uh... "go f!ck yourself" came to mind but I played nice and said nothing.

I could use a showering of love, prayers and support starting RIGHT NOW.

Oh Friend, that SUCKS! Move to NY- we could get you services! Failing that, bring the kids to visit for a couple of weeks- at least you could have full time back up. Praying, praying, praying!

I am so very sorry to hear this! I am in shock and disbelief and tears along with you all. I will continue to pray for you as you deal with this and have to make difficult decisions and beat the bushes to find help.

I'm so sorry....but I'm also so..angry that you were expecting real help from these "professionals" and the advice they've given is the lamest crap I have ever heard. Ask them what time they'll be over to take a shift with her since you are only ONE person and they're expecting you to do the work of an entire STAFF. Stupid a-holes.

Saying prayers... lots and lots of prayers. I wish there was something I could do for you. :-(

I have been following your Blog for a while. I am so sorry to hear that the "professionals" just don't get it. I work with families that have RAD kiddos providing services in the home. Sissy's story is one of the worst I have heard. Sadly RAD is not recognized for what it is. And it most certainly is not about poor parenting. Your strength and perservance are truly blessings from God. I will continue to pray for all of you. I hope a different solution presents itself before the 13th.

I wish my outrage would be enough to help you in this situation but it isn't. All I can do is let you know that I love ya and will pray for some sense to be hand delivered to someone...anyone...who can help you! Love ya!

I'm sorry to hear that. It's ridiculous that they would be so insulting with their recommendation, and especially that they would think her rages are ignorable.
